From Intern to Project Freight Forwarder – Meet William Bergheim

Why did you apply for an internship in K2?

While studying at Molde University College, I was part of the student association LogistikkForum. We organized an event where several companies were invited, including K2. After Leif Arne’s presentation, I wanted to learn more about what K2 was doing. I remember thinking: “This is something I would really like to work with.”

In addition, I had the opportunity to choose a company placement as part of my final semester. I submitted an application and started my internship in January 2025.

How did you experience the internship period?

I experienced the internship as extremely educational, with a steep learning curve. There was a lot to become familiar with at the beginning, but I was well supported through structured training and close follow-up.

During my internship, I was placed in-house at Aker Solutions. My day-to-day work consisted of exciting tasks and a high workload.

My main responsibilities were transport planning, coordination, and finding the best possible solutions in line with the project’s needs.

At the same time, I was still completing my studies, which meant I had to structure my days as effectively as possible.

How do you experience the difference between studies and a full-time job?

As a student, the focus was very much on theory. What I appreciate about working full-time at K2 is that I get to apply what I learned during my studies in practice.

Student life was great, but I really enjoy being in a full-time job.

How was it to start as a full-time employee after the internship?

Starting as a full-time employee at K2 after the internship felt like a natural transition, since I was already familiar with the tasks, systems, and the culture. I am still working in-house at Aker Solutions, which is both exciting and a valuable experience.

I have now been given more complex cases, but it has been reassuring to continue in this role with the experience and relationships I built during the internship.

How do you experience K2 compared to other companies?

What I find truly unique about K2 is the colleagues and the culture that has been built. The level of expertise is extremely high, which gives extra confidence to those of us who are young and newly employed.

The workdays are fast-paced and there is a lot to do, but everyone supports each other, and the mindset within the team feels very special.
